My Bike II

This is for my daughter.
The big sister.

Faster than the wind,
flying like a rocket,
I race along the path,
treasure jingling in my pockets.

Speeding past the trees,
ducks swimming on the lake,
I weave between the runners
and leave them in my wake.

Woo-hoo! Wee-heeeeee!
into the breeze I yell!
Closer, closer, closer-
ringing on my bell!

Squealing to a halt,
cheeks rosy from the flight,
I wait ‘til little brother
slowly ambles back in sight.

My Bike

I wrote this poem for my son.
To encourage him on this next milestone.

My bike moves very fast-
wheels spinning ‘round and ‘round
wind flying swiftly, peddles turn-
I almost leave the ground!

My bike is super speedy-
I make my mummy run.
We ride and run together
‘cos it’s a lot of fun!

I race her to the corner-
watch while she catches up,
I laugh ‘cos I’m the winner!
She gives me big thumbs up.

My bike has two large wheels-
I balance there just so,
(but sometimes when I’m tired,
I lean a bit down low).

My bike has little trainers
but I don’t need them anymore-
I think I’ll ride without them
now that I am four!
